TIFFANY & CO. STERLING "VINE" SALAD SERVING PIECES

The Vine pattern is said to be one of the most highly desired of all the Tiffany & Co. designs, and the “Peapod” is the rarest motif. Created by Edward C. Moore, who worked at Tiffany& Co. from 1869-1891, this pattern was first introduced in 1872. The design and the workmanship is beautiful and lyrical - open and closed peapods, tendrils, and leaves encircle the handles in high relief on the front and back of the fork and spoon. The design was influenced by the period’s fascination with all things Japanese and is exemplary of the Aesthetic Movement.  The serving pieces come in their original silk-lined box.  Stamped Tiffany & Co.  Sterling. ca. late 19th century.
