In the late 1970’s, Cleto Munari commissioned famed artists, architects and designers, among them Michael Graves, Gae Aulenti, Etore Sottsas, and Carlo Scarpa to design beautiful and useful objects in silver, often augmented with semi-precious stones. He wanted the designs to be fresh and original and striking, and the pieces produced, influenced by the Memphis Movement, were very exciting indeed. H. 9″ Carlo Scarpa, long recognized as one of the most important designers in Italy contributed a number of pieces, including this elegant pitcher in hand-hammered sterling silver. # 287 from an edition of 300. The edition is completed, and no more will be produced.
