Jules Bouy was a French Art Deco designer who worked for Edgar Brandt, first in Paris, and then in New York before striking out on his own. He designed beautiful and very original pieces.
This striking and elegant arm chair is in hand-hammered and patinated steel, with the original upholstery. It was designed for the harpist Carlos Salzedo in 1931.
This chair is beautifully proportioned, with striking contrasts of curves and rectangles, and use of negative space for lightness and drama. It is beautiful as an object as well as being useful.
