JULES LELEU ART DECO BURR AMBOYNA AND IVORY INLAID CHEVAL MIRROR
Jules Leleu belongs to be in the same pantheon as other great twentieth-century furniture designers. This beautiful Cheval mirror was part of a bedroom suite that Leleu created for Mme. Chenard in 1923. It was exhibited the same year at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in Paris. This piece, of burr amboyna wood, rosewood fillets, and with ivory marquetry, is illustrated in Francoise Siriex's book, "The House of Leleu" on page 127. We are lucky enough to have a period photo of this piece from Le Arti D'occi (Tav. CLXVIII). 69" H x 51" W x 20" D
