The French firm of Daum Nancy produced some of the most striking and sought-after glass of the Art Deco period. The best pieces are of very thick glass, which has been cut-back in an acid bath with a strong Geometric design, and the cut sections then hand-finished with various textures that affect the way light is transmitted. This contrasts dramatically with the un-cut, polished sections.
This vase has a very unusual form and a simple and strong Art Deco motif, and the color is a subtle gray, with slight blue or purple tints.
