Beautiful and rare carafe by the great designer Rene Lalique. The bulbous base graduates to a beautifully elongated neck, and the lizard motif is very strongly dimensional, as the glass was actually blown into the mould. The frosted glass is highlighted with a rich brown stain. This model was made as a flagon with a stopper, as well as the carafe version seen here. The design originated in 1928. This piece is illustrated in many books on Lalique. 29.5 cm.
