Howard Newman is an American artist whose work is represented in many museums – for more about him, please see our bio on the website.
This sculpture, titled “skull”, is in bronze and was done in 1975. The edition of 6 was sold out. Mr. Newman describes the piece as “a very personal meditation on the Holocaust”.
The sculpture does in some ways resemble a skull, but in a very abstract way. Despite the sad associations of the artist, it is a very beautiful and intriguing sculpture.
