FANNIERE ANTIQUE RENAISSANCE-REVIVAL SAPPHIRE AND ENAMEL BROOCH

A rare and charming articulated brooch, in Renaissance Revival style, by the famed 19th century French jewelers Auguste and Joseph Fanniere.

Two beautifully modeled putti in silver support a gold, sapphire and diamond element topped by a delicately enameled ribbon and flower. Pendent from this is a second gold, sapphire and diamond ornament, with an articulated diamond and silver swag on either side, and hanging from this is a gold, diamond and delicately enameled drop. This brooch is from ca. 1869. Signed jewelry of this period is extremely rare.
