Nathanael Le Berre is one of the most gifted sculptors now working in France. His pieces are unique, and born of a sensitivity to the materials and to form and proportion. They are superb in every way.
This sculpture is an exploration of volumes. There are opening that allow the viewer to see the inner “room”, emphasizing the negative space. Le Berre then uses a bright color to contrast with the black exterior. The metal has been hammered leaf-thin.
In Le Berre’s words “I am looking for an abstract energy, a presence. My sculptures can be interpreted as a model of the world, a specific moment of its creation, the scale of a universe or an atom”
