Description

The work of Janniot is often associated with the Bordeaux School, even though he was not born in that city, but in Paris where he attended the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts.

This sculpture, made of polychrome workshop plaster, is of Uranie, who was the muse in charge of Astronomy and Astrology. She holds between her legs a globe decorated with golden stars and Apollo’s cart, which both are the traditional attributes of the Greek muse Uranie. This is a very charming piece. She is 11 ¾ inches high.
